Mother Of All Surveys: Part I - Guns N Scrabble

I just ran across this survey my sister sent a while back.  I named it
"The Mother Of All Surveys"  It has some 97 parts to it!!!  Leave it to an engineer....  Oh by the way, if you're reading this...consider yourself TAGGED!  Actually, I thought it would be great for all who visit here to share with one another.  So I'll post it in sets of 10 until it's all done and we all know each other a little better.   (I whittled the questions down to 53...life is only so long.)  Leave your answers in the comments for all to read!

What book are you reading now?  "Jack and Jill" by James Patterson not Mother Goose (it's not even my book and I've been on page 35 for about a year now) and "Justice" by Dominick Dunne which again...I have been in the first few chapters for months.  Next unread book will be "The Oz Principle" by Roger Connors and Tom Smith.  I sort of have to judge a book by it's cover since I never read the inside.

What's on your mouse pad?  Ummm, honestly?  I lost it when I moved so I'm currently using a hotpad displaying the ingredients of a pizza...hey, I'm not the hotpad designer!  But if you've ever met one...I'd love to hear about it.  ...and let's not talk about the fact that it's been 2 yrs since I've moved...

What's your favorite board game?  Mind Trap

    Favorite Magazine?  Shape

Favorite smells?  Bleach water (you know...smells like a pool on a hot summer day, that's not too weird...is it?), cedar, coconut, gardenias, Cool Water cologne and tangerines...no not all together, sillies!...but bleach water is definitely the fav!

Favorite sounds?  Someone mowing the lawn on the first springy day of the year, traffic in the distance and my best friend snorting when she laughs

Worst feeling in the world?  Carpooling with co-workers, late for a meeting, long ways to go, no time to stop, have to pee like a mutha!
    (  +  +  ) =

Roller coaster - scary or exciting?  Exciting

How many rings before you answer the phone?  3 and none if caller i.d. says "unavailable"

Favorite foods?  Chicken, au gratin potatoes, dinner rolls, more chicken and baklava...sorry Dr. Adkins...1 outta 4 aint bad   Oh!  Just remembered...blanched green beans w/mushrooms.....mmmmmmm...oh! and chicken shwarma...the list is endless...

Great, now I'm hungry.  Actually since being home I have unsuccessfully lost 13 lbs because I can barely cook.  It's ok to eat popcorn for every meal right?  Thank goodness I have a microwave, otherwise I wouldn't even have that!  Just kidding, I know how to make toast.  Maybe it is time to get back on the road...

That's it for now!  To be continued.......
I'd love to see lots and lots of comments with your answers!  Don't make me come over there and give you my pouty lip...
    it's pretty powerful!!!
(alright...if you don't want to play along, it's ok to just say, "Hi!")

Wow!  You're all such dolls:)  So happy to see so much participation!!!  Love and smooches to you all.  See something in common with someone else?  Go ahead...visit each other...write each other...isn't that what Blog-land is all about?    All you Scrabble players need to get together and have a tournament or something lol.  If you do...for your own safety...you might want to let "Stroller Guy" win.....

I saw the survey a day or so ago...no time to participate then, but this morning I am iced in, sooooo...why not?

Book I am reading -- none currently, but I am lucky in that I can listen to audio books at work, and I just finished "Velocity" by Dean Koontz. I DO plan to start the latest Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" at home....soooon!

What's on my mouse pad -- sorry, but I have joined the legions of optical mouse users....they are great!...but has rubbed the finish off of my keyboard tray. Somebody should invent a mouse that is less damaging....yes?

Favorite board game -- hmmmm...does Yahtzee count?...lol Actually, I really liked Pictionary when I had it, but I think it got lost when I moved...not sure. I want to try Cranium, but even though it has been on my xmas list for a couple of years, Santa hasn't brought it to me yet...*sigh.

Favorite magazine -- I don't like magazines, as a rule, but since rules are made to be broken, I will say...I love Reader's Digest...there is something for everyone in it.

Favorite smell -- a light dash of Stetson on the neck of the man I love....ummmm...wonderful!!! (actually, just the neck of the man I love, with or without the Stetson!!...he he)

Favorite sound -- a soft and sleepy murmurred "I love you" in my ear while I am still half asleep.

Worst feeling in the world -- letting down the people I care about.

Roller Coaster -- definitely exciting, but they wouldn't BE exciting if they weren't scary too....would they? Are best ridden while tucked in close to that man of my dreams....strong arms to make me feel safe...which is no doubt one of the BEST feelings in the world!

How many rings? -- I always pray I can get to the phone before the ringing stops...because invariably, the phone is upstairs when I am downstairs, and vice-versa.

Favorite food -- wow, what a tuffy. Pizza qualifies, if it is loaded with green peppers, onions, pepperoni...and if I have a nice cold beer to go with it...yummm. In my teens, my 20's, and my 30's, my favorite thing was cheeseburgers....nothin' better!...but I am finding that there is more to life than cheeseburgers...lol I also absolutely LOVE the rice at the Japanese Steakhouse...it's to die for!

Well...it's time to find my ice-ax and see if I can chop my way out of the drive....(no tears if I can't...not gonna kill myself to get to work on a day like today!)
Have yourself a great day...and I may comment again sometime....and btw, I just LOVE your blog!...keep up the wonderful entries!

That being said, the challenge is always welcome - I do not have a Mensa card or a gun.

First off, thx for your kind and encouraging words on my blog. Secondly, curse you for your open invitation to yet another diversion – it’s hard to resist the Mother of All Surveys.

Book: Just finished “Atonement” by Ian McEwan – fabulous, prize-winning fiction; the kind that makes you say, “Wow, this guy gets deep inside people's heads!”

Mousepad: Some boring green one from Dell – I’m thinking of cutting it into a Christmas tree for a company contest for best ornament made of office supplies.

Board game: Liebrary – I haven’t actually played it, but it sounds great – a book and its first line are given and contestants get points for writing their own first line and fooling others into thinking it’s the true one.

    Magazine: In 1970 – Mad; in 2005 – ?

Smells: Fresh basil, cinnamon rolls, vanilla

Sounds: Crackles of a fire on a cold evening

Worst feeling: When something bad may happen and it’s my fault

Roller coaster: fun (but those whirly, twisty rides can be a problem, especially after a corndog or two)

Rings: 1 for people I recognize on caller ID

Foods: Pizza, chicken tikka masala, thai curry, toffee, chocolate chip cookie dough (oh man, is it time for dinner yet?)

Book: Guide to Unix Using Linux, 3rd edition

Board Game: I don't play Board Games
Magazine: Aviation Week & Space Technology (commonly referred to as Aviation Leak by the Air Force), Newsweek, Motor Trend, Road & Track
    Smells: Garlic, Grilled Steak
Sounds: Music, Friends yelling "F*** OFF", car engines
Worst Feeling: being lonely, feeling like my life is a mistake
Coaster: never been on one, probably exciting. I am a risk taker, so sounds like fun
Phone: depends on who it is, most ppl 1-2 rings, my mom i let it go to voicemail
Foods: anything edible. I have eaten lizards, crickets, grubs, and worms in survival trainging, so I will eat just about anything

I love surveys!! (oh and by the way, thanks for commenting back.)

Book: Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs. This guy is hilarious! Check him out! If you don't wanna buy his book, just go to the bookstore and peruse through it =)

Picture on my mousepad: Sunset with palm trees reflecting on the water. My coworker got it for me before I went to Fiji.

Boardgame: I would have to agree with Strollerguy. I love Scrabble! And Rummikub! And the one time I played Cranium I really liked it.

Magazine: Don't really read them. I like the travel ones, since I love dreaming about where I want to go next..

Smell: The inside of a book. Even when it smells musty. And the smell of infants. And food that I used to eat when I lived in the Philippines.

Sound: Breathing next to me when I'm sleeping. The door opening when I'm waiting for him to come home. Rain.

Worst feeling: Disapponting somebody that means a lot to me. Feeling like you have to go to the bathroom but not being quite ready yet. Getting a tattoo on your foot. Having drank so much so soon..and having to "purge" early in the night <yech!>

Roller coasters: Scary when I'm in line, especially if it's hours, still scary on the first drop (i feel like i will die), then exciting once the first drop is over =)

How many rings? Honestly, it doesn't matter. I answer the phone as soon as I can get to it (find it in my purse, in my car, in my house)

Favorite food RIGHT NOW: soup--mmm. I love anything spicy. Seafood pasta..Fresh warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream (with all the fat). This chop suey that I make..Anything with eggplant.
